The Maserati 250F is an Italian-built racing car from 1954 to 1960. A total of 26 of these racing cars were built. The car was equipped with a V6 2.5 liter engine that delivered 270 HP. Later, a V12 3.0 liter engine that delivered 315 HP was also available. The car has won 8 races.

The (Y10-4) 1957 Maserati 250F Lightweight was released in 1986. It does not fit into the classic yesteryear with its appearance at all and was produced for a relatively short time, yet almost 100,000 models were made.

Livery: (Tampo)
Racing number: Black '12' on white disc on tail and top of bonnet above grille.

Variations/Rarities: The Maserati had an Italian racing red body & chassis with a red plastic baseplate. It had light grey suspension, grille, steering wheel and exhaust pipe. The seat and dashboard were black plastic and the cockpit featured a clear plastic windscreen. Racing number 12 tampo were applied to the nose and either side of the rear end.
The first version did not have a copyright date but later models had '1986 ©' added to the front of the baseplate.
The wheels can be chrome plated or have an aluminium finish.
There were no rare variations. The model without the year 1986 underneath is rated as less common.

Interesting Notes: This model was originally intended as part of a set of four racing cars; including the 1930 Bentley, 1935 ERA and 1932 Bugatti to be used to promote the sponsorship by Matchbox of a historic car race. Although the race went ahead, Matchbox pulled the sponsorship in the end due to costs being way to high.
